Keep Al Fresco Dining Alive!
Help fund the creation of new parking spaces so outdoor dining on Promenade de la Playa can stay.
AL FRESCO DINING
Al fresco dining — “in the open air” — has been a beloved tradition for centuries, enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Since 2020, the business strip along Avenida de la Playa has been closed to traffic, transforming into a lively pedestrian space at the heart of La Jolla Shores. With an approved permit now in place, we’re moving forward to make the promenade permanent with outdoor dining patios and thoughtfully designed replacement parking.

The California Coastal Commission has required 11 new parking spaces, which will be added parallel to the existing parking lot at
La Jolla Shores Beach near Kellogg Park. This expansion will provide more parking spaces for beach visitors, increase access to our local shops and restaurants, and enhance the entire La Jolla Shores community.

In order to construct the new parking spaces and bring our outdoor dining promenade to life, we need the community’s help. The new parking will be added adjacent to the La Jolla Shores Beach parking lot on Camino del Oro, ensuring easy access for visitors.
